By Robert Brandon – currently on the Horizons French course

Who’s it for?

Horizons is somewhere people of all ages and abilities can meet to learn new skills, and update old ones.  Both men and women are welcome to attend all courses.

You may have been put off from studying in the past by the cost of courses at various places of learning.  At Horizons, whoever you are the courses are all FREE.

I personally have increased my knowledge (and collection of certificates!) since studying with Horizons.  In fact, it is hard to remember a time when I wasn’t on a Horizons course!    I found the tutors most helpful; plus all the staff here are friendly and welcoming.    Whether you are a parent wanting to return to work, a single unemployed person, or recently retired, Horizons has a course to suit you.

Not only will you enjoy meeting new people, you can learn in small groups without any pressure put on you, at a speed you can manage.

What do I leave the course with?

Everyone who attends a Horizons course is presented with a certificate of attendance.      Some courses require a pass mark; when this is reached, students are given another certificate.     Seeing the joy on people’s faces when presented with a certificate is amazing.  Many who have had difficulty learning in the past have surprised themselves by what they have achieved in a short time.

What if my chosen subject is not being taught?

Some courses started at Horizons have come about because of the need for them.

Even if you think your idea is not shared by any others, you could be surprised.
