What is Horizons?  

Horizons offers free, relaxed and friendly learning in your local are to adults 16 and above.  We give confidential advice and help making choices about learning.

 

Why Should I learn with Horizons?  

Reasons people come to Horizons:

  • building confidence and having time for yourself;
  • learning new skills in small groups;
  • making friends;
  • getting qualifications;
  • doing something new;
  • having fun

 

Who's it For?  

Horizons is somewhere people of all ages and abilities can meet to learn new skills, and update old ones.  Both men and women are welcome to attend all courses. Whether you are a parent wanting to return to work, a single unemployed person, or recently retired, Horizons has a course to suit you. 

 

How much does it cost?  

You may have been put off from studying in the past by the cost or availability at various learning centres.  At Horizons, whoever you are, the courses are all FREE.

 

What Can I study?  

Courses include:

  • Confidence building;
  • Ways into employment;
  • Art
  • Computers (for all levels, from introduction to computers to website design)
  • Maths
  • English
  • Floating Heaven (well-being and health)
  • Food Hygiene
  • Science
  • Childcare

You will enjoy meeting new people, learning in small groups, at a speed that you can manage.  The tutors are really helpful!

Qualifications range from Basic Skills, GCSE, NVQ2 childcare, Higher Education

What if my chosen subject is not being taught?  

Some courses started at Horizons because the students decided that they wanted them - give us your ideas!

 

What do I leave the course with?  

Everyone who completes a Horizons course is presented with a certificate of attendance.  Some courses require a pass mark - when this is reached, the students receive another certificate (see our Certificate Day page)
